Welcome to the Love's Grove United Methodist Church website. We hope this site will help you learn more about us and our witness for Christ. We strive to recognize and nurture the Christ in ourselves and each person that we encounter along the way. Our church is a thriving community of believers, and lovers of the word of God. Love's Grove UMC has a long tradition of outreach and service to its members and the community. We hope you will join us for service on Sunday to experience for yourself the fellowship of Christ.

Advent Worship and Service Opportunities

at Love's Grove

Each Sunday of Advent (December 2-23) we will be worshipping in the sanctuary at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM. The following is a list of additional opportunities for Advent worship and service:

Sunday, December 2, 5:00 PM: Christmas Caroling. We will gather in the Fellowship Hall at 5:00 PM, form teams, and then travel to the homes of homebound, widows, elderly and others. We all need the encouragement that only Christmas hope can bring. The carolers are always blessed in equal measure to those with whom we share. Cookies and cider will await us upon our return.

Saturday, December 8: Day of Giving with West Stanly Christian Ministries.A limited number of volunteer spots remain on this day (See Susan Yow ASAP to volunteer). Everyone can help by taking an angel off the Christmas tree in the Fellowship Hall and purchasing a $25 gift for a child. Angels have age and gender of recipient. Toys are the best gifts. Leave gifts UNWRAPPED! We also need wrapping paper, scotch tape and batteries. Set-up volunteers at Stanfield Health and Fitness Center on Thursday and Friday, December 6-7 are also needed (See Carolyn Johnson for details) All donations need to be received by December 5.

Sunday, December 9, 6:30 PM: “Miracle on Bethlehem Street” Children’s Christmas Dramain the Family Life Center. You will laugh and maybe even shed a tear as the children retell the old, old story in a new and creative way. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make their annual visit after the program. They will receive gifts (new toys) from the children (and others) to give to other families in need. This is always a special reminder that Christmas is about GIVING because we have already received the greatest Gift of all!

December 16, 11:00 AM: “The Silence and the Sound” Christmas Cantatapresented by the Chancel Choir. Familiar carols are beautifully woven into this unique and beautiful cantata which tells the story of Jesus’ birth. Christmas is not just a quaint, old tradition. The Savior’s birth marks the fulfilment of ancient biblical prophecy and the beginning of eternal hope! The choir is working hard to be a blessing to all on this day.

- In addition to the cantata we WILL be having Contemporary Worship today at 8:30 AM with a sermon and carols of the season by the Praise Band.

December 23, 6:30 PM: Christmas Moravian Love Feast, in the Family Life Center.Come join us for a historic and beautiful worship experience with Moravian beeswax candles, sugar cake and cider, the reading of the Christmas story from Luke 2, testimonies of thanksgiving and the sounds of the season with our Praise Band and other musicians. You truly do not want to miss this time of worship as we welcome the newborn King into our midst.

December 24, 4:45 PM – 7:00 PM: Christmas Eve Communion.Come to the sanctuary anytime during these hours to meditate on the Word, listen to the beautiful music of the season, pray, and receive Christ’s Body and Blood on the eve of his holy birth. Bring friends and family whose hearts desire to receive the Sacrament in faith. All are welcome.
